Bevan Mailman is the Founder of Mailman Law and the Managing Director. As a corporate lawyer, his expertise is in commercial transactions, corporate advisory and corporate structuring having held positions with leading law firms and companies including National Australia Bank, Allens Arthur Robinson (Allens Linklaters) and Deacons Lawyers (Norton Rose Fullbright). Bevan holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School and has studied at Kellogg School of Management (US), and Otto Beisheim School of Management (Germany).

Chad Drever is a Legal Advisor and heads up Mailman Law’s business development efforts. As a corporate lawyer he has experience in corporate structuring and governance, as well as commercial disputes. Chad has extensive experience in upstream oil and gas operations in Canada. He understands the unique needs of communities and organizations seeking to develop and implement energy and natural resource strategies that are practical, sustainable, and achievable. Chad holds a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) from Monash University and has studied at the University of Alberta in (Canada).

Significant transactions

As part of the legal team in a number of law firms and companies, Bevan has worked on the following transactions. 

  • National Australia Bank in relation to incorporation and its membership with the Open Data Centre Alliance, a consortium of global IT leaders setting global standards in data centre and cloud computing requirements, Delaware, United States (members include China Life, Capgemini, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Lockheed Martin and Terremark);

  • National Australia Bank in relation to clearing agreements with various international banks including Bank of China, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, BNP Paribas and Bank of America;

  • National Australia Bank in relation to its collateral debt obligations exposure in Australia, Europe and the United States;

  • National Australia Bank in relation to the opening of its first branch in Shanghai, China;

  • Pipeline Partners Australia's (a consortium which includes Canada's Caisse de Depost et Placement du Quebec and Utilities Trust of Australia’s) bid for Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund Ltd;

  • Australian Foundation Investment Company Limited’s convertible notes capital raising issue of $200 million;

  • Newcrest Mining Limited’s sale of its interests in the Cracow and Mt Rawdon gold mines in Queensland; and

  • iSelect Ltd’s takeover bid of InfoChoice Limited.
